Up Levelling Sentences Homework Clipart

Hey everyone! I am here to share with you a little goodie that will simplify your Guided Reading planning and target your instruction for ALL of your groups!

This is my Guided Reading program that correlates to the Fountas and Pinnell Guided Reading Levels. I always personally struggled pulling materials for my groups each week that was specific and targeted to what my students in each of my different groups needed to focus on. In my kindergarten classroom, I often had groups spanning 7 different reading levels, sometimes more. Can we say planning nightmare!?  I know. You've likely been there, too.  Guess what?  Not anymore! :)  I know that this pack will help organize and streamline your teaching. And the activities are pretty fun if I do say so myself. :)

While this blog post is focused on my First Grade Guided Reading Units, my very first bundle was for Kindergarten Guided Reading. You can find that here in my TpT shop. If you are on the fence, check out the reviews!

Okay, let's get to it!

Each of my units are divided into three sections:

 1. Getting Started:
-Lesson outline for EACH reading level F-J
-Characteristics of readers at each reading level and how you can support them
-Setting up Student Guided Reading Notebooks
-Setting up your Teacher Binder

2. Materials
-What you need in your Guided Reading Toolkit
-Reading Strategy Posters to teach decoding
-Reading Skill Posters to teach ALL of the primary reading skills

3. Student Activity Binder
-A TON of activities to support your students at each specific level, F-J.

In this post you will find photos of each part of the above sections for each reading level. Some of the elements repeat within each unit, so I won't repeat photos-- but know that everything above is included in EACH unit. You'll also find photos of every activity found in each individual Guided Reading Units.

How you can support readers at Level F.

Each reading level has a customized list of what readers at that level should be doing, books that support those readers, and how you can support them.

Some activities in the extension portion of your lesson will be completed by each student in their guided reading notebook. Instructions are included to set these up for each of your groups.

Each reading level practices a different set of reading skills, so the comprehension skill posters and activities are different in each unit.

LEVEL F Student Activity Binder

This is where all of the following activities will found. You really only need one binder per level-- it holds everything. I used 1.5" binders for each of the levels. You will want to print and prep everything ahead of time so that it is truly grab and go. When you meet with your group, you grab the level binder that you need and pull out the activity that you want your group to focus on that day. Easy!

I recommend copying each activity's directions page and put them into page protectors.

Copy and trim, paperclip, laminate, etc. the activity and stick them right in the page protector with the directions. It will look like this:

This is an activity from my Kindergarten sets, but you can get the idea of how to store each activity. Everything goes into the page protector.
